I am of a very rational nature. I have the ability to see almost anything from a uniquely
unbiased perspective. I have a severe contempt for irrationality, particularly when forced
to deal with it. I have, in the past, listed things which irritate me. However, most, if not
all, of these things are results of irrationality. Incompetent arrogance, narrow-mindedness,
conforming for the sake of conforming, abuse of power, obnoxiousness, the list goes on.Hobbies/Interests

Why "Maverick Knight", instead of "Maverickist"?
The term "Maverick Knight" comes from an RPG I am currently writing the plot for. It is one of the more advanced character classes, in the game. I selected "Maverick Knight" for the simple reason that it sounds better. So yes, followers of Maverickism are called Maverick Knights.
Okay, but why "Maverickism"?
This is derived from my self-appointed nickname, Maverick83. (Or more recently, Master Maverick, within association with the Maverick Knights.) Maverick means one who thinks and acts independently of others. There really is no better one-word description of me, or what this belief system is all about, thinking for oneself.
What is a Maverick Knight?
A Maverick Knight is a follower of Maverickism. Anyone who has decided to follow the teachings I have set forth, the guidelines for Maverickism.
How does one become a Maverick Knight?
First off, I want to make this perfectly clear, you do not become one because it sounds neat, because you like the title, or any other reason that would prevent or inhibit your taking this as seriously as any religion one might choose to follow. If you are interested in becoming one, you may contact me. Odds are, there are some things you will need to learn. You may also check the Maverick Knights livejournal community, for a series of Maverickism lessons.
What do the Maverick Knights believe?
The Maverick Knight belief is as follows:
Inspection of causality not only suggests, it demands, that everything is preset, and the entire universe is preprogrammed. The program itself is referred to as the Causal Web. So simply put, the Maverick Knights believe in fate, and destiny, as absolutes. It is important to distinguish this from the whimsical notion of selective destiny. (i.e., "destiny" that puts you in the right place at the right time, and then no longer applies.) Everything, absolutely everything, is running on the program, the Causal Web. Free will and chaos are illusions that result from the inability to observe and analyze the Causal Web in its entirety.
It is not presumed that there must be a creator, nor that there is not one. A Maverick Knight infers, and draws reasonable conclusions. We do not assume. And given the current available information, the existence of a creator is no more likely than the absence of one. The initial incident which determined the details of the Causal Web may have occurred entirely on its own, or it may have had a conscious deisgner.
Now, that said, one may draw the conclusion that Maverickism supports a pointless existence, drifting along, fully aware of and acting upon one's powerless state. Although certainly, if that is what you wish to do, then it is what was destined, and it is to be done, a true Maverick Knight will not take such a course of action. Acting on the principle that nothing matters demonstrates that one has only grasped the half of Maverickism, the Absolute Futility, described above. There is an equally important concept, Subjective Value, that one must become familiar with, in order to truthfully call oneself a Maverick Knight.
Subjective Value is just what it says. It states that while causality reigns supreme, and destiny is both preprogrammed and unalterable, being subject to the experience, and powerless to accurately analyze the Causal Web enough to foresee true destiny, charges one with the responsibility of free will, illusory as it may be. To put it simply, you may take whichever actions you want. Anything you do is "right". You were destined to do so. However, any and all consequences that arise from your actions were also destined to occur, will be experienced, and will not be foreseen (logical inference may give one reasonable predictions, but this is not to be confused with foreseeing). Thus, for all effective purposes, free will applies.
And so, the Maverick Knights do not believe in right and wrong, as applied to moral and/or behavioral issues, or good and evil. But we believe in a concept similar to karma, based on causality. The nature of what one puts forth is a key element in determining the nature of what one receives. That being the case, Maverick Knights are expected to maintain virtue. At all times be honest, rational, and fair, and treat others with the same respect you want to be treated with.
What we see as ideal is the freedom of all people to pursue the life experiences they desire, the sole restriction being that they do not prevent others from enjoying that same freedom. No action is considered unacceptable unless it clearly violates this principle.
